This is a photograph of myself holding a cosine receptor, which is used to measure downwelling irradiance (Downwelling irradiance is the total radiation that falls on a particular point from the entire sky). This was part of an experiment to measure the spectral properties of a few kinds of algae. This photograph was taken at Lake Kinneret.
This image was taken in a boat on the Agmon pond in the Hula Valley in Northern Israel. The Agmon pond is an artificial pond which was built to maintain a relatively high water table in the Hula Valley basin. This image was taken at the Ramat HaNegev Experimental Station. The Device that I am holding is a frequency domain reflectometer (a Campbell Scientific CS615 Water Content Reflectometer). The FDR was inserted into the soil at a depth of 15 cm and the diurnal variations in soil moisture monitored.
